One-time NFL Star Antonio Brown Enters Innocent Response in Attempted Murder Case
Former National Football League player Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to address an attempted murder accusation stemming from a incident that took place in May, with his counsel entering a not guilty declaration on his behalf.
Detention documents in Essex County, New Jersey, show that Brown was discharged on Tuesday morning for his transfer to Florida. Brown, a highly popular figures in the National Football League, had forgone extradition to Florida from New Jersey, where he was detained after being arrested in the city of Dubai.
Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, mentioned in an email that he has previously filed a documented innocent plea to the attempted murder accusation. Brown could be in a Miami court as early as Wednesday morning for a release session, Eiglarsh added.
As per his apprehension document, Brown is accused of taking a firearm from a protection staffer after a star fighting contest in May and shooting two bullets at a person he had clashed with earlier. The claimed individual, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told investigators that one shot touched his throat.
Eiglarsh stated that Brown was simply protecting himself from Nantambu.
“The steps he was obliged to take were solely in self-protection against the reported person’s violent conduct. Brown was attacked that evening and behaved within his rightful right to protect himself,” Eiglarsh said.
Brown was not right away apprehended because originally authorities did not recognize Nantambu as a victim. It wasn’t until subsequently in May that Nantambu gave a complete statement about the incident to police and identified Brown as the perpetrator, the affidavit indicates.

A second-degree murder attempt accusation in the state of Florida bears a highest fifteen-year jail sentence and up to a ten thousand dollar fee in the instance of a conviction.
Brown has faced numerous judicial challenges over the years. He previously had been accused of physical attack of a vehicle operator, various domestic violence allegations, neglect to pay child support and further incidents.
In a recent match with his team against the Jets, Brown stripped off his uniform, shoulder pads and accessories and ran off the arena, resulting in his release by the franchise and effectively halting his professional journey.
Brown, who had 12 years in the league, was an elite receiver who passed the majority of his time with the Steelers. Throughout his time, Brown had 928 grabs for more than 12,291 gains, the twenty-eighth highest of all time. He was a 7-time Pro Bowl selection.
